Mr. Scarecrow, Is He Scarey or Not?

Mr. Scarecrow went with me to my first craft fair this fall.  Afterall, what is fall without scarecrows? 

He looked pretty lonely by himself, so I let him hang out with his friends at the craft fair in this basket.  He's much happier here with buddies!  Still, they aren't very scarey, even in big groups!  Check out the scarecrows in their hats--see what I mean, even the scarecrows love them!

 

My sister, Melinda, just attended a Stamp Group event and was describing the scarecrows she made there.  I wanted to use a scarecrow design at my booth, so I tweaked her idea and came up with MY MAN!  (Thanks, Melinda!)

Melinda said her scarecrow was a wrap for a large candy bar, so I used Mr. Goodbars, white chocolate Cookies and Cream candy bars, and boxes of Milk Duds.

I just wrapped two different colors of Stampin' Up designer paper around the candy, one for the blue jeans and one for his shirt.  I used Stampin' Up's new Real Red polka dot 5/8" wide grosgrain ribbon for his bandana. 

With the Top Note die shape and the Big Shot machine, I cut out Mr. Scarecrow's face using Very Vanilla cardstock.  I used my 1/2" circle punch to cut out two Basic Black eyes and one Very Vanilla nose.  I used my white gel pen to highlight the two black eyes, and a little Chocolate Chip ink on a sponge around the face and the nose.  Have you seen the gorgeous new stamp set Autumn Harvest?  I chose the wheat stamp from that set for Mr. Scarecrow to chew on.  And topped his mouth off with a dotted Chocolate Chip marker line.

 

I also cut out his hat using the Top Note die, cutting two Really Rust pieces.  For each hat I cut the Top Note in half horizontally and one in half vertically, and used a sponge to dab Chocolate Chip ink around the edges of each piece.  You can see how I adhered these two sizes to the top of his head to make his hat.  Mr. Scarecrow has a little bit of shaggy yellow hair sticking out below his hat brim.  I just cut the hair randomly with my scissors (no die cut involved).

To top his hat off, I used the Birds & Blooms Stampin' Up sizzlet die to cut out all of my black crows.  I attached the birds and wings with Stampin' Dimensionals, and they look like they love hanging out there on the hat.  (They aren't a bit scared.)

I would give these cute guys to my pre-schoolers for halloween. I would wrap him around micro-wave popcorn (straight from the field he was in).

These are adorable!!! In our office we are always going on chocolate hunts when we are having a rough day!! These are a great idea to give to everyone for Halloween!! One idea that came to mind for the kids is a Pez dispenser (in the package). My 3 year old son would LOVE it!!
