The Gateway Rubber Stamp Getaway in Collinsville, Illinois, was so exciting this past weekend. I want you to know I was in heaven--everyone there loved stamping and creating as much as I do! Where else could I have met so many people to support my passion of rubberstamping and giggle and ooo and aah about everything, like I was doing? And to top it off, my good friend Carol Payne and I did the booth together, so we got to spend a lot of time talking stamping over those two days!
As part of our booth display, we had door prizes to give away that were hand-stamped cards. When stampin gals stopped to sign up for the door prize, they looked at our display of 6 choices of cards. They could pick which card was their favorite, and that way when they won the door prize, that is the card they would receive. (Each winner won a set of 6 of the same card). Well, this card below was the favorite card of our 6 selections:
I'll show you how I made it. It is very classy, but also very simple to make.
First I started with just a black card base and added a layer of gorgeous designer paper from our Rockability package. I used Stampin' Up's wide oval punch on the black cherry paper from that same designer paper set. (This paper will be retiring the end of June, it'll be gone forever, boo hoo.)
Then I just snipped a small piece off of one end of that oval piece, turned it upside down and used it for the base part of the flower vase.
Now before I attached the vase to the card, I used the stem stamp from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set in black ink to stamp three flower stems in a fan shape. I wanted to stamp them first, so I could just adjust the vase where I wanted it.
I added three Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the large oval piece (the vase top), so the vase had some nice dimension.
Can you see in this picture how the vase looks like it is 3-D? Next, I used my 1/2" circle punch to punch out three black flower centers. I used the Flower Daisies #2 Bigz Die and my Big Shot die cutting machine, with Real Red cardstock, to cut out 6 of the smallest daisies from that die. (This die has three sizes of daisies.)
Now you just need 3 more Stampin' Dimensionals to finish these darling flowers! For each flower, you will layer one red daisy die cut on the card, one Stampin' Dimensional in the middle, a second red daisy die cut, with the petals staggered, not just lined up with the first red flower, and the black 1/2" circle. Repeat for all three flowers.
I completed the card by using the "Thank You" stamp from SU's new Only Ovals stamp set. Using the Small Oval Punch, I punched out the "thank you" and then layered the sentiment on a Real Red piece of cardstock that had been punched with our Large Oval Punch. Now just add 2 more Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of this oval design, and you are done with your "favorite Door Prize Card".
