Have You Ever Been So Proud, You Could Just Burst?

Well, I am right now.  I am so proud of my fiance', Jeff, that I have to share with you.  He just graduated Friday night from Rend Lake College and in August will graduate from SIU with his Bachelor's degree in Workforce Education.  He has worked so hard, going to school nights and weekends for two years while holding down a full-time job, raising his two daughters, keeping his home, yard, etc.  (oh, yeah, and putting up with me and my kids!)  This is Jeff (on the big screen) getting his diploma--doesn't he look proud?

   

Of course, I had to make him a graduation card.  This is my version of Jeff graduating:

 

The "Congratulations" is from a Sale-A-Bration set I got for free this spring.

"Paper Jeff" was made entirely with Stampin' Up! punches as follows (starting from the top):

Flat board of hat -- 1-1/4" Square Punch from Basic Black cardstock, trimmed and turned on a diagonal

Head/face -- 1-1/4" Circle Punch from Blush Blossom cardstock

Cap of hat -- also 1-1/4" Circle Punch.  I first took a strip of Basic Black cardstock and punched slivers of a circle out using this punch (which makes the point on his forehead), then took that piece and punched the entire shape with the same 1-1/4" circle punch, centering the pointed design.  (Just play with it, you will see how easy it really is!)  This is attached to teh Blush Blossom head piece.

Neck -- Word Window Punch from Blush Blossom cardstock.  (Don't let the head just "hang" with no neck!)

Long robe -- 1-1/4" strip of Basic Black cardstock that I ran through the Large Tag Punch and punched the top of the robe.  Then I used my 1-1/4" Square Punch to make the v-neck of the robe.

Sleeves of robe -- Large Oval Punch from Basic Black cardstock.  Trim small piece off one end where hands will show.  I attached the sleeves with Stampin' Dimensionals to give them a 3-D effect.

Hands -- Word Window Punch again punched from Blush Blossom cardstock.

Diploma -- Word Window Punch from Whisper White cardstock.  There is a red ribbon drawn around it with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.  Then using the small end of my Basic Black marker, I drew spirals to appear that the diploma was rolled up.

Feet -- Word Window Punch from Basic Black (cut in half for two feet)

And did you notice the little tassel on the cap?

I used our silver cording which Stampin' Up! offered in the Holiday mini catalog last winter and made a very small tassel.  Just contact me if you would like to know the details on the tassel.  I should have drawn a big smile on his face, because that is really how it was at the ceremony!

I can see why you would be proud of Jeff. Going to school, full time job and taking care of family is something to be extremely proud of. Congratulations Jeff!
