Free In Color Sample For You, Just Ask

Remember my Color Renovation Bookmarks I created and gave away in my April 20, 2010 post?  Well, I have an addition to your bookmark that you won't want to miss out on!

 
 Just contact me to receive your free samples of Stampin' Up's new In Colors--Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, and Blushing Bride.  Your sample will be punched using (my favorite) Stampin' Up's Extra Large Bird Punch.  One side of the bird is printed with the color name of the cardstock!

The other side of your cardstock sample with be a sample of the matching In Color classic ink on the bird's wing.  Don't you think that is a sample that you need?

The birds are then attached with a piece of SU's linen thread.  If you have the Color Renovation bookmark, this can be tied to the ribbon at the top of your bookmark to add to your cardstock samples.

I Can Almost Taste the Ice Cream!

My mouth starts watering when I look at this card very long.  Ice cream is one thing I just cannot say "no" to, EVER!  So, of course, I would pick a card with ice cream on the front to share with you during this hot summer.

 
I ran across this card idea on a demonstrator's website, but wasn't sure I was going to make it, and now I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it, but it is not my original creation, just a CASE.  Thanks for the inspiration.  I love seeing others ideas and creations, it just makes me want to go home and stamp!

We will be doing this card at tonight's Punch Sample Club that I have created.  The gals in this class are wonderful and we have such a great time each month!  I also have on-line stampers who are enjoying the kits from these classes.  Let me know if punches are your passion, as this may be a class that interests you too. 

Punch Sample Club

I wanted to share a sample card from my next Punch Sample Club coming up this Friday. 

 
The gals in this club are the most wonderful, enjoyable gals to be around.  We get together once a month and have the best time!  We are all getting quite a collection of punched samples.  When the club is complete we will have at least 40 samples of punch designs in a neatly kept album!

If you would be interested in joining, I still have a few slots left for on line club members.  Just let me know if you need more details on this club!  It is a one-of-a-kind and as far as I know, no others are like it anywhere!

Look at All the Retiring Colors, Inks and Stamp Sets!!

There are some cool new icons added to the left of this information box.  Click on one of these to see all of the retiring stamp sets, embellishments, cardstocks, inks, stampin' around wheels, etc.  You will want to know what is leaving, so you can order now, as these items will never be offered again by Stampin' Up!

My Gorgeous Daughter

 
Some of you know my youngest daughter, Kirsten.  If not, well this is Kirsten on the night of her 8th grade graduation, along with me and my fiancee, Jeff.  Notice the medallion around her neck?  That is the valedictorian medal--she's top in her class.  I know she will have a bright future as she grows up.  Love you Kirsten! 

Have You Seen the New Smooch Spritz from Stampin' Up?

The new Smooch Spritz that will be available in the new Summer Mini Catalog (which you should have received in your mailbox this week) is so neat!  I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to spray some shimmer on our Pretty In Pink icing on this cupcake card that we created as a project at Lavon's workshop on Monday.  (You remember, my fabulous Fairfield gals' workshop?)  Of course, the picture doesn't do the Smooch Spritz justice, but at least you can see the shimmer.  It reminds me of our Shimmery White paper, but NOW you can have every color of cardstock shimmery!  What to see this at a workshop, just let me know.

  The Smooch Spritz comes in a very slender spray bottle in four fabulous shimmery colors, the Vanilla Shimmer which I have used here, and Gold Glow, Silver Foil, and Log Cabin (brown shimmer).  I'll be trying them all!  Just check page 15 of the Summer Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up to see this new product.  (Beginning May 1 you can click on my Summer Mini Catalog picture in my sidebar to see this catalog on line, if you didn't receive one from me in the mail.  And by the way, if you didn't receive a catalog and want one, just let me know!)

My Fairfield gals seemed to love this adorable little cupcake, and one girl made it with blue icing so she could give it to a little boy she knew who needed a birthday card.

What a Fun Workshop Last Night!

Wow, I was invited to hold a workshop last night in Fairfield, Illinois with some really great ladies.  They are so energetic and willing to see all of my new ideas.  We stamped late into the evening, but everyone was having such a great time, I don't think any one noticed the time!  I want to show you two of the projects we created last evening.

The first project we did was painting pansies with the aquapainter and ink refills.  Did you know you can make a pansy (flower) from Stampin' Up's butterfly punch?  When you have looked at the butterfly punch in the past, you have seen just a butterfly, haven't you?

 

These pansies were made by punching two butterflies  out of Shimmery White cardstock with the butterfly punch, painting them with an aquapainter and Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry refill inks.  This example looks a little messy to do, but the end result is amazing.

 

The painting is very easy to do:

1)  Using the aquapainter, wet the butterflies (and work on them) one at a time.

2)  You will put 2-3 drops of each color of reinker in a small puddle.

3)  Use the aquapainter to first wet your butterfly, then touch the tip into the reinker puddle and put a small amount of ink on the wet butterfly where you want the color.  I used Crushed Curry in the center and the Rich Razzleberry around the edges of the "butterfly wings".  Let dry completely, using a heat tool to speed up the process.

To assemble the flowers: lay two pieces of painted butterflies on top of one another as shown, using a brad to hold the two pieces together.   When completely dry and a brad is holding the pieces together, we used the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Marker to draw accent lines in the center of the flowers (look at the flower on the right to see the best detail of this, kind of like cat whiskers on each section of the flower).

Now just add a few punched leaves from Stampin' Up's Five Petal punch, attach the flowers with Stampin' Dimensionals and you are done!  You can not see this at all in the picture above, but the Shimmery White cardstock make the pansies shine and shimmer.

Do you like the Top Note die piece of Very Vanilla that we then ran through our Manhattan Roses embossing folder?  I think it's pretty elegant now.  And don't forget to add a gorgeous piece of Rich Razzleberry polka dot ribbon (my favorite) to complete the look of your card.

Ok, then we used a stamp set that I think gets forgotten about alot, Hello There, to make our next creation.

 

We used the Finial Press embossing folder to emboss our Whisper White cardstock before beginning the card.  This cute paper is from the Tea Party designer series package (very cute).  We just stamped the full flower with leaf and stem in Certainly Celery, stamped the flower part again in Pretty In Pink and Summer Sun, cut those flowers out by hand and popped them right on top of the Certainly Celery images using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Cute and easy!

How Can I Get My Own Color Renovation Bookmark?

As most of you know, Stampin' Up! is in the process of a major Color Renovation where alot of our good old friendly colors that have been around for years are now leaving us.  It only makes sense that Stampin' Up! would want to refresh our colors periodically, and this is the time.  

Ok, now for the good news--We are getting five BRAND NEW COLORS that will be included in our new Color Collections.  I will introduce them to you:

 

I have labeled them, but now for an up-close look:

 

Early Espresso--this is a dark, rich brown shade that definitely reminds me of a coffee bean color

 

Marina Mist is a "Caribbean blue" shade that will coordinate well with bright tropical colors--wow, imagine it with Melon Mambo!

Daffodil Delight speaks for itself!  What a delight to have a brand new yellow.  It is not as bright as Yo Yo Yellow, but a brighter shade than So Saffron.

 

I guess Cajun Craze reminds me more of a warm, spicy look!  It is very rusty looking, it'll be a fun color!

Cherry Cobbler is a dark, dark red color. 

Don't you just love all the names Stampin' Up! comes up with? 

Stampin' Up! wants to make sure its demonstrators get their hands on and get a look at the new cardstock colors, so they have sent me samples!  That's how I can share them with you.  These are five colors that are brand new to Stampin' Up!  Now, don't confuse these with our temporary In Colors--these five brand are new core colors for Stampin' Up!

Ok, now if that wasn't enough, Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi are In Colors that will stay with us as core colors too!!  Notice that there are five retired In Colors that have been brought back as core colors.

Does this sound confusing?  WELL DON'T BE!  CHECK OUT MY NEW BOOKMARKS THAT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU!

So, I apologize if some of your favorite colors are going bye, bye, but you could always buy, buy a few extra packages and hoard them away to continue to use them, since you know by the end of June they will be gone!  And another suggestion would be to make sure you have refills for your inkpads that are leaving.  Stampin' Up! says that they will have all colors of cardstock and ink through the end of May, but then as the colors that are leaving sell out, that will be all there is!
